It seems that Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is just approaching its official launch. The rough and tough Samsung device which had almost every adventurer and rumor mill on its toes with various speculations and rumors has now leaked once again, this time revealing every single possible detail about it.
That’s right – in two leaks almost everything about the device has come out. The first leak is in form of some images shared on Reddit by a user who claims to have collected those images from his Samsung employed friend in San Francisco, while another leak is that of a presentation slide or a promotional poster coming from SlashLeaks.
The reddit leak thread has since been removed by the user who posted it, but folks at Android Authority were prompt enough to capture some images so we can certainly see what was posted. So without much delay let’s dive into information that has been revealed and confirmed in both these leaks.
The first confirmation is related to design – inline with previous leaks, Galaxy S8 Active won’t have an Infinity display like original S8 because it’s meant to be a rough and tough device. However, that doesn’t mean all is lost – the screen size will remain same at 5.8 inches, and it’ll be a Super AMOLED display with resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
For the purpose of protection this display will also have one more thing – the ShatterShield protection that’ll protect the
display from breaking . The return, home and menu buttons on the front will be capacitive and included in the display itself, which looks (sort of) cool!
But the internals will remain same as the ones included in Galaxy S8. There will be Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 12mp primary camera and 8mp secondary camera. Wireless charging and dedicated Bixby button will also be present, just as expected. And there’ll be Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
So is there anything else that’s different besides the front of device? Oh yes – the material used. The smartphone will be made of high-grade polycarbonate but the frame (sides) of device will be made of metal. For the sake of durability this device will also not be as thin and light as Galaxy S8 – it’s 1.5 times thicker than that beast. And finally, there’ll be bigger 4,000 mAh battery in this one. Check this video too.
So folks, this is Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, coming sometime in next few months (probably not too far now). Would you like to get it? Share your thoughts in the comments.
