The rugged fan favorite from Samsung will be returning as the Galaxy S8 Active, and for those looking for an upgrade it sounds like it’s definitely coming. The rugged beast will simply be the Galaxy S8, but with a permanent outer surround that will appeal to the rugged nature in all of us. For those who have those inopportune incidents, will surely appreciate the durable surround that will give you superior protection.
When looking at some of the upgrades, some of the most notable will be seen in the specs department. We’re already hearing a new processor, beefier cameras, but now we’re hearing about more RAM and expandable memory. Samsung enthusiasts have been asking for a bit more power and the ability to have an almost endless array of onboard storage, and it sounds like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be upgrading both.
We’re hearing the S8 Active will boast 5GB RAM which will be up from 4GB seen in the S7 Active. While this may not sound like much, when coupled with the newest Exynos chipset and Qualcomm’s 830 SoC it’ll be one of the fastest Android smartphones launching in 2017. This will mean more dedicated memory which will especially appeal to productivity users looking to get the most out of their new handheld.
One of the other rumors out there is the idea of expandable memory. The S7 Active comes 32GB of onboard memory and is expandable to an extra 256GB with one micro SD card slot, but we’re hearing the S8 Active will feature two. With two Micro SD Card slots giving double the expandable memory, users will have an almost endless amount of room for storing, well, anything you can imagine.
Of course, we’re also hearing some of your favorites will be back which includes the Active Key, the ability to removes AT&T bloatware, Android Device Manager, and a military grade rating. Other features that you may not know that are heading your way may include an iris scanner which will replace the fingerprint scanner, 4K resolution, and if we’re lucky, 3D recording and playback.
Only time will tell which will be here before you know it, and with all new updates you can expect to see them here first.
